Beyond the Classroom

The Middle School Interscholastic Sports Program at Banner is intended to build not only athletic skills but also good sportsmanship. All students in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate and all students who want to play are provided the opportunity.

Our team, the Bobcats, can be seen working as hard on the field and the court as in the classroom. Whether it is reflecting on lessons learned through defeat or celebrating their victories, our athletes never lose sight of the responsibility of performing in a Banner spirit that reflects our values and Circles of Community Citizenship.

There are boys and girls athletic teams for the fall and spring seasons.

In the fall, we offer a Boys Soccer team, a Girls Volleyball team, and a coed Cross Country team. Our competition includes a wide array of middle school teams in the Maryland Junior Athletic Conference. Practices are generally held 4 days a week and games are played both at home and away.

The winter teams include Boys and Girls Basketball. Spring teams round out the year with Girls Soccer, and coed Track and Field.

At Banner, our Coaches have the utmost respect for the primary purposes of middle school sports – building character, strengthening skills, and promoting good physical health.
